Door Construction

DLC Lumber Clad Doors

Our “DLC” Distinctive Lumber Clad doors are constructed with 1/8” thick sawn lumber faces for superior durability and wear resistance. As compared to conventional thin veneer construction, our wear layer faces allow for machining of v-grooves, wire-brushing, and carving without penetrating the door face which can sacrifice performance and aesthetics. Another added benefit is that these doors can be repaired or even completely refinished if ever required in the future. Coupled with our LVL engineered cores, these doors are an excellent choice for exterior installations that demand the ultimate wood door construction. Alternate wear layer thicknesses and door core materials available upon request.

Plank Matched Wood Grain

The typical grain matching for DLC door faces is a balanced plank-match. This means that the flitches will all be equal in width (prior to door trimming) and have been hand sorted for a pleasing and natural variety of boards differing in wood grain and colour. If you’re looking for a book-match or slip-matched face this may be available depending on door configuration and wood species, please inquire with us.

True Plank Grooving

For doors with either v-grooves or square grooves, we offer the “true plank” option which calibrates the location DLC flitch joints with the final location of the machined grooves. This creates a stunning appearance similar to shiplap or tongue and groove paneling.

Pivot Doors

Our pivot doors are constructed with the same quality materials and processes as our side-hinged doors but operate with the unmatched smoothness that only a pivot hinge can deliver. We offer a variety of pivot hinge options including Fritsjurgens hinges which can have concealed closers and hold open points.
